Board Member Elections!

Hi all,
On Sunday January 10, 2021, We are holding elections for our volunteer-run board! This is also a public board meeting for anyone who wants to drop by. You can see LIVE the types of things we do as a board. Otherwise, for those interested in becoming a board member, this is the meeting you would attend to run! You do not need experience on a nonprofit board to join, but we will ask you to tell us about yourself for a couple minutes before we vote. Please be on time!

If you are not able to attend, but would still like to be considered for a board position, email us a paragraph about yourself before January 10th at bqachicago@gmail.com.

We will do elections first and then go into our regular board meeting. Hence, if you are elected, make sure to plan on staying the full two hours. We are looking for a new President, Vice President, and other general board member positions. I will list further details for each position below. We strongly encourage individuals from the South and West sides of Chicago, but anyone can run who lives in the Chicagoland area (we include Southern WI and NW Indiana too)!

If anyone has further questions, feel free to email bqachicago@gmail.com 🙂  The time commitments listed below are average maximums (they usually do not approach these amounts).

President Duties:
Time commitment: 5-10 hours a week
The President is responsible for running the organization and handling all logistics. The President runs the monthly board meetings as well as ensures there are groups and events running each month and forms partnerships with other organizations.

Vice President Duties:
Time commitment: 5 hours a week
The Vice President is responsible for planning board meetings, ensuring efficiency of the board, assisting with hosting events, & working with the President.

Treasurer:
Time Commitment: 3 hours a week
The Treasurer is responsible for tracking our expenses and income. The treasurer also submits our tax information each year and provides monthly reports to the board. The time commitment varies significantly with this position due to time of year.

Secretary:
Time Commitment: 2 hours a week
The Secretary is the record keeper at every board meeting. The secretary also assists the President in tackling the email. Otherwise, the secretary has general board member duties.

General Board Member:
General board members can help host events, can create event ideas, provide input on organization policies, and can basically run and/or assist in whatever they would like! The time commitment varies greatly based on what the board member decides to work on.
